Founded in 1940, CEA is a not–for–profit employers association that serves over 10,000 businesses throughout California. Our three primary offerings are: membership, consulting, and training. Membership provides valuable support, tools, and resources to owners, managers and HR professionals to assist in the day-to-day human resources functions, including web access with labor law database with information for all 50 states. CEA’s consulting and trainings services help California employers on a wide range of HR and management issues including expertise in wage and hour compliance, employee handbooks, recruitment, union negotiations and organizational development. With two bilingual HR Advisors on staff, CEA is equipped to handle English and Spanish trainings. CEA and its Advisors do not provide legal representation or legal advice to members. In 1940, a small group of employers in need of human resources and labor relations assistance pooled their financial resources to form the California Association of Employers. In 1938 a small group of employers formed the Valley Employers Association in Fresno for the same purpose. In 2007, CAE and VEA joined forces and today are known as the California Employers Association (CEA) with a for-profit subsidiary known as CAE Services Inc.
CEA and CAE Services, Inc. are both governed by a board of directors comprised of representatives from member businesses. The board provides policy direction in the execution and expansion of human resource and labor relations services to members.
A hallmark of CEA is the manner in which it provides benefits to members. CEA employs a staff of human resource and labor relations professionals to provide hands-on, issue-specific consultation services covering all aspects of employer-employee relations. The benefit to members is that CEA's human resource advisors become familiar with their business and culture. These experts, who bring more than 180 years of combined experience, are located throughout the state.
